Egypt has surpassed Nigeria as the country with most semi-final appearances at AFCON with their victory over Morocco.
The Pharaohs previously hold the record, but the Nigeria tied with them after reaching the semi-final of the 2019 edition in Egypt.
However, the seventh time winner reclaimed the lead when they beat the Atlas Lions of Morroco 2-1 in the quarter finals clash on Sunday.
Recalled Nigeria and Egypt met in the Group stage — with the Super Eagles emerging 1-0 winners, courtesy of Kelechi Iheanacho’s solitary goal.
While Super Eagles bowed out of the competition in the round of 16, the Pharaohs have grown into the competition and going stronger.
The seven time Champions have now defeated Sudan, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast and Morroco to reach the last four.
Egypt will now face hosts Cameroon in the semi-finals on Thursday.
