Victor Osimhen returned to action for Napoli in their outstanding 2-0 victory over Bologna FC in the Italian serie A on Monday.
The striker has been sidelined since November, after sustaining a facial injury in Napoli’s defeat against Inter Milan at San Siro.
The injury ruled the player out of Nigeria’s African Cup of Nations squad and was replaced by Slavia Prague striker Peter Olayinka.
However the 22-year-old made his return on Monday night and helped his team win the game 2-0 at the Diego Maradona’s Stadium.
The former Wolfsburg football club star was introduced to the pitch in the second half of the game, and he was unlucky not to mark his return with a goal.
Osimhen had a chance to make it 3-0 late in the game. He was cleared on goal, however delayed his run to beat a defender, before firing wide from inside the box.
Mexican star Hirving Lozano opened in the 20th minutes after a pass from North Macedonian star Elif Elmas to end the first half 1-0.
Hirving Lozano doubled the lead in the 47th minutes via a beautiful assist from Spain star Fabian Ruiz to end the match 2-0.
The victory moved Napoli to the 3rd spot in the Italian serie A table.
