African and Nigerian top Table Tennis player Quadri Aruna has stated that he believes his progress at the International Table Tennis world championship in Houston Texas will pave way for other African table tennis players to progress after becoming the first African to first make the last 16 before being knocked out at the quarter-final stage following a 4-2 loss to Sweden’s Truls Moregard over the weekend.
Aruna speaking on his world championship progress said he drew inspiration from the progress of Toriola who had gotten to the last 32 at some point in the Olympics while Omar Assar of Egypt matched his own 2016 Olympic record at the Tokyo games.
He stressed that his latest progress will make others believe that they can also record such run in future tournaments.
