Super Falcons defender Glory Ogbonna has confirmed that she will be leaving her Clubs, Umeå IK.
The defender and the reached agreement to part ways on mutual consent, at the end of the season.
Ogbonna signed a two-year deal with Umeå IK, following her exit from Nigeria Women Football League side Edo Queens.
Speaking on her reason to quit the club after just six months, the 22-year-old African Women Cup of Nations winner, said :
“It is with sadness in my heart that my stay at a reputable club like Umeå IK will come to an end soon. Umeå IK welcomed me, they gave me a home, the coaches, management, players made life easy for me and I will forever be grateful. After considering the weather at this time, it will be hazardous to remain here due to the weather. I want to thank the Club for understanding my decision although it is a difficult one to make. Umeå IK will forever remain in my heart as you gave me my first experience playing club football outside Nigeria. To my players, fans, thanks for everything, the wonderful memories will forever be in my heart.”
The 22-year-old helped Umeå IK gain promotion to the top flight (Damallsvenskan) this season with two woman of the match awards.
