Glasgow Rangers have appointed former Dutch international Giovanni Van Bronkhorst as their new manager.
Rangers confirmed the appointment of the former Arsenal star on Thursday and he will replace Steven Gerrard who left the post to join Aston Villa.
At Rangers, Van Bronckhorst will inherit a good group, including three Nigerian internationals Joe Aribo, Leon Balogun and Calvin Bassey.
The new Manager’s first game in charge of the club is a League Cup semifinal clash against Hibernian on Sunday and he will be banking on the players to help get his reign off to a positive start.
Calvin Bassey, Joe Aribo and Leon Balogun are among the important first team players under Gerrard and they they will be eager to make a good first impression under their new boss.
As a former player, Van Bronkhorst had a good spell with Rangers, winning two league titles and made 118 appearances for the club, scoring two goals, before retiring from the game.
The former Feyenoord manager’s main objective is to help Rangers retain the Scottish Premiership title they won last year.
Rangers currently lead the table with 30 points from 13 games, four points ahead of Celtic, who have also played the same number of games.
