Former Super Eagles striker Victor Ikpeba says the current side lacks creative midfielders who can make the difference at the highest level.
Gernot Rohr has played Alex Iwobi in the number 10 position for the Super Eagles, and the midfielder was named the man of the match against Liberia last month.
Despite the performance, Ikpeba insisted the team still lacks creativity in the middle of the park and the Everton man can only thrive against African oppositions.
Ikpeba added that Super Eagles needs a world class playmaker and Iwobi isn’t the man.
“We lack that creativity in the midfield. We don’t have that players such as Austin Okocha and Wilson Oruma in the midfield that cancreate chances for our strikers.
“In Africa, its fine but playing at the world stages, we need someone that is creative. Alex Iwobi can’t do the job for us at the moment.” he said on Monday night football on Super Sports.
Meanwhile, Iwobi will miss Nigeria’s upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign against Central African Republic due to injury.
