UCL: Zaidu Sanusi help FC Porto claim a point against Atletico

Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi was in action for FC Porto in their UEFA Champions League opener against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The left-back was given a rare start by coach Sergio Conceicao after leaving him out of recent matches in the league.

Zaidu started along with Chance Mbemba Pepe and Jesus Corona and they did well by keeping a clean sheet.

It was an highly intensed game that saw Zaidu Sanusi and seven other FC Porto received a yellow card, while Chance Mbemba was sent off deep into stoppage time for a foul on Antoine Griezmann.

Zaidu lasted for 46 minutes and he was replaced by Wendell who also went into the book of the referee for a foul.

Porto thought they had won the game with 10 minutes left, when striker Mehdi Taremi had the ball in the net, but it was controversially ruled out for handball after a VAR check.

The game ended without a goal and FC Porto returned to Portugal with a point in the bag.
