Akpeyi remains optimistic about Super Eagles chances of qualifying for the World Cup

Daniel Akpeyi said he is delighted to be back in the Super Eagles again, after missing last few matches.

Akpeyi is making a return to the Super Eagles squad after he was excluded from the squad that faced Benin Republic and Lesotho in 2021 AFCON qualifiers back in March.

The Kaizer Chiefs goaltender was also left out of the team that played Cameroon twice in Austria two in June.

In a chat with brila.net, Akpeyi said he’s excited to be back in the team and grateful for another opportunity to represent his country.

“It’s a great feeling for me to be back with the team, I will always appreciate every call up, because it’s a huge privilege and not everyone have this opportunity in their career.”

“I’m grateful to God, to the coaches and whoever that made it possible for me to be here.” he told brila.net.

On the upcoming the 2022 FIFA World Cup encounter with Liberia, the Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa shot-stopper said, the team have to remain positive.

“I know the qualifications will be tough, but he has capable hands and if given a chances, they can do their thing.”

“Football is difficult game, today it can be find and then tomorrow another thing happen.”

“We also hope for the best and we are looking forward to gathering enough victories to ease the qualifications.”

“We will take it each game at a time, like we have been doing since Rohr came on board. Friday is the first game, so we have to remain positive. ” He told brila.net.
