It was a disappointing night of football for Shehu Abdullahi as his team Omonia Nicosia narrowly missed out on Europa League Group phase on Thursday.
Abdullahi was in action for the Cypriot Champions against Royal Antwerp in the second leg of the tie played at the Bosuil Stadion.
Shehu Abdullahi and his teammates went into the match with a 4-2 victory from the first leg, but the Belgian won the second meeting 2-0 to tie the score at 4-4 on aggregate.
Johannes Eggestein teed up with his teammates, Koji Miyoshi to make 1-0 from Royal Antwerp in the 28th minutes before substitute Pieter Gerkens scored the second in the 84th minute.
Abdullahi Shehu was replaced by Paris Psaltis in the 110th minute, while his compatriot Iyayi Believe Atiemwen came on for Andronikos Kakoullis.
The changes failed to turn the result around for Omonia Nicosia as the extra third minute ended with a goal.
Royal Antwerp held their nerves to secure a 3-2 victory in the penalty shoot-out out and advance to the Group phase.
