Obi expresses gratitude to Chievo Verona after completing Salernitana switch

Nigeria international midfielder, Joel Chukwuma Obi, has completed his move to U.S. Salernitana 1919 on Wednesday.

The midfielder penned a one year contract with the Serie A new boys with an option of additional year.

The transfer brought an end to his time at troubled Chievo Verona who are competing in the second tier of Italian Football.

The 30-year-old scored six goals in 67 matches for Chievo from 2018–2021 and was unlucky to not guide them to promotion last season.

After completing his move, The former Inter Milan player took to his Instagram page to express gratitude to fans of Chievo and the entire management.

He said : “I would like to find the right words to describe what these two and a half seasons spent at Chievo have represented for me, all the emotions, the moments in which we cried, rejoiced, suffered and fought, always together, as a true team.”

“Perhaps the best way is to just say Thank you. This path has made me grow professionally and humanly, so I want to thank all the people who have been part of it: my teammates, the staff, the managers, all those who work for this shirt.”

“A heartfelt thanks in particular goes to you fans, who have always supported me in the happy moments, but above all in the most difficult ones. I think the beauty of football is also a little bit this: the ability to say goodbye, but knowing that nothing really ends because that has always been inside you. Thank you.”

Obi will be playing for his third club in the Italian Serie A after featuring for Inter Milan and Parma in the Italian elite division.
