My Players Executed a Perfect Game Against MFM FC – Boboye

Coach Kennedy Boboye praised his players for the performance against MFM FC in the NPFL on Sunday.

Akwa United defeated their hosts 2-1 to record their first ever away win over the Olukoya Boys at the Soccer Temple.

On the stroke of half time, Akwa United took the lead through striker Mfon Udoh and it was their first goal against MFM FC in Agege.

Former Akwa United player Paul Obata levelled the scores for the host in stoppage time, when he hit a left-footed free kick found the bottom right corner.

Akwa United got the winner eight minutes into the second half of the game through Ikechukwu Nwani.

Reacting to the game, Boboye said MFM FC aren’t a push over, but he congratulated his wards for ending their poor run in Agege.

“My boys really did well, they fought hard and did what I asked them to do and the result came. MFM is not a push over side, we played well today and took our chances and we are happy that we have been able to win this game.

“I want to congratulate my boys because we have an attitude of not giving up, at the beginning of the season, we didn’t start well but we told ourselves that we have to take it one game at a time and that is what we are doing,” He told the club’s media.

Akwa United will next take on Lobi Star on Match-day 18 at the Nest of Champions this weekend in Uyo.
