UCL : Zaidu Sanusi helps FC Porto knock out Ronaldo’s Juventus

It was a day to remember for Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi as his club FC Porto secured passage to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals at the expense of Juventus on Tuesday.

Sanusi named as a starter for the second-leg tie which ended in a 3-2 win for Juventus after extra time in Turin.

The result means the game ended 4-4 draw on aggregate and it was enough to help Porto advance to the last eight on away goals rule having won the first-leg 2-1 in Portugal.

Sanusi, who has been invited for Nigeria’s 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, got 71 minutes of action.

Porto’s Sergio Oliviera scored the opener 19 minutes in, from the penalty spot, before Federico Chiesa scored twice in the second half to take the match to extra time.

Porto got their decisive second away goal from Oliviera’s free kick in the 115th minute to level the game at 2-2  on the night.

French midfielder Adrien Rabiot made it 3-2 for the hosts with a looping header from a corner, but Porto held on to progress on to the quarter-finals.
