Chairperson of Nigeria women’s football league, Aisha Falode has stated that the women footballers’ contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s economy is enormous.
Speaking while addressing Journalist in Abuja, Falode said after the conclusion of the previous women world cup in France – seven of the players from the home scene did not come back here to play football because their talent had earned them club sides abroad.
She further stated that the proceeds they do get from their sojourn abroad come back to the country which some of them have used in establishing NGO’s and several organizations to develop the economy of the country Nigeria.
“We have Asisat Oshoala, we have like seven players from the last world cup in France, who never came back as a domestic player, they are all over Europe playing football, whether you like it or not they are returning their investment back to Nigeria and putting their bits into the economy.
“Whether you like it or not they are investing, they are creating their NGO’S, they are employers of labour, they are building the future, this is the kind of holistic vision we want everyone to have for women football.” She concluded.
