Championship club, Stoke City are interested in signing former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi this summer.
According to a report on StokeonTrentlive, the Potters are in the market for a holding midfielder and Mikel is believed to be top of their wish list.
The ex-Nigeria international became a free agent in March after mutually terminating his contract with Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor over COVID-19 fears.
He has since been linked with possible moves to Brazilian clubs Internacional and Botafogo, Italian Serie A new boys Benevento, and West Brom, but none materialized.
Mikel played briefly in the English Championship after linking up with Middlesbrough on a short term deal from Chinese side Tianjin TEDA in 2019.
He made 18 appearances for the Smoggies and saw the back of the net once.
This is the second time Stoke City have shown interest in Mikel as they tried to sign him in 2015 when they were a Premier League team.
