Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has been named among the player who could wear Tottenham Hotspurs’s vacant number 9 shirt.
Tottenham Hotspur have not had a number nine since Vincent Janssen who wore the shirt departed the club after underwhelming performances.
Tottenham Hotspur’s number nine shirt has had some famous strikers wear it over the years but they need someone new to pull on the jersey, but Roberto Soldado, Roman Pavlyunchenko and Vicente Janssen have all failed to live up to the expectations.
The likes of Dimitar Berbatov, Jimmy Greaves, Martin Chivers, and Clive Allen, while midfielders such as Darren Anderton, Nayim, and Chris Waddle are former strikers who have flourished in the shirt and Osimhen has been as a player who can bring back glamor to the famous number.
Osimhen, 21, who finished as Lille’s scorer and has been heavily linked with Spurs and other European giants in recent months.
However, the problem for Spurs is that with four years left on his current contract, the player won’t be allowed to leave cheaply.
Reports claimed Lille wants more the transfer fee they receive for Nicolas Pepe who joined Arsenal for £72m last summer.
Osimhen who has scored 18 goals in 38 appearances is currently valued at £93million and that could rule Spurs out of the deal.
