Former Super Queens park Rangers left-back Taye Ismaila Taiwo has spoken about Sergio Aguero’s winning goal that gave Manchester City the league title in 2012.
Manchester City scored twice in stoppage time to be crowned champions for the first time in 44 years as they beat Queen’s Park Rangers to win the Premier League on goal difference from Manchester United.
Football fans all over the world, especially Manchester United fans believe Taiwo could have done better be stopping Aguero before scoring the winning goal.
In his defense, Taiwo told brila.net via Instagram live that there was nothing he could have done at that moment and urged fans to rewatch the game eight years after.
“If I had touch Sergio at the point, It will be a penalty, which is even worse,’ He told brila.net.
“A lot of people see me on the street of London and ask if I intentionally allowed Sergio in, It’s just football,’
“Some even opined that I did it for my friend Yaya Toure, and my former Marseille teammate, Samir Nasri, It’s not true, I have no option at that moment.
Though on the losing sides, Taiye Taiwo had reasons to be thankful as his club escaped relegation from the premier league.
QPR escape follows a 2-2 draw by Bolton against Stoke city. Taiwo was on loan at QPR from Italian side AC Milan.
