Afeez Aremu and Ik Starts players to take pay cut due to covid-19

IK Start defensive midfielder Afeez Aremu has confirmed that the management of the Norwegian club will slash the staff salaries including the first-team players due to COVID-19.

In a chat with brila.net, Aremu exclusively stated that the team has just completed a quarantine period since they came back from Spain on a pre-season tour.

“The virus has just started sprouting in the city of Norway so they were all asked to stay indoors for 14 days which has now ended, but they were still asked to remain in self-isolation.

“The virus started spreading when we came back from the pre-season training in Spain, we were asked to stay indoors for fourteen days, he told brila.net.

“Yesterday was our last day, we are out but we’re told we still have to be inside because the virus is real for us not to be contracted.”

The former Flying Eagles player also confirmed that the players might be taking a pay cut due to the effects of the pandemic coronavirus.

“Yes we were told about the pay cut last week but not a hundred percent sure.

“The Management will get back to us on what the percentage decrease will be.” he said.
