Bolaji Sakin made his dream return to Nigeria with Horoya AC in the CAF Confederation Cup over the weekend as the visitors snatched a vital away advantage in the draw against Enyimba at the Enyimba International Stadium.
A month before the quarter-final draw, Sakin had predicted, more of a wish though, to return home with his team to face the NPFL champions.
The midfielder had played previously for Rivers United and for Enyimba’s local rivals, Abia Warriors.
But, despite the 1-1 result on Sunday, the home crowd welcomed his return to the famed grounds like one of their own.
In an appreciation tweet, the footballer thanked the fans and “people of Aba”.
I don’t even know…. how to thank @EnyimbaFC fans and All the Aba people for what they did yesterday….. thank you thank you very much may God bless you all 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰 pic.twitter.com/PH0It1LYoN

Enyimba were pegged back by Boniface Haba’s 71st minute goal after Austine Oladapo had given the hosts an early lead; in the opening 18 minutes of the game.
The second leg of the quarter-final tie comes up on March 8 at Stade du 28 Septembre.
