Detty December – Kalu to be punished by Bordeaux for late return

Samuel Kalu might face the wrath of his club, Bordeaux following his late return to France after the Christmas and New Year break which he spent in Nigeria.

The Nigerian winger rejoined his teammates in training on Monday after spending almost a week back in the West African nations as a result of issues with his travelling documents.

And due to his inability to return early as expected, Kalu was not part of Bordeaux’s 2-0 win over Le Mans in the French FA Cup(Coupe de France) round of 64 last week Friday.

Bordeaux boss, Paulo Sousa had sometimes last week dropped a strong hint that Kalu will be sanctioned for his action.

“Each player who tries to fake things or who does not have adequate responsibility towards the club must be punished,” he declared.

Sousa went further by revealing that the Super Eagles player is aware of his wrongdoing and will be punished.

“Kalu is aware of his fault and knows that he will have sanction which will not be sporting. Our player therefore neglected his rights in terms of passport, and missed nearly a week of training, also with the Coupe de France match against Le Mans.”
