MFM Queens BC lost their second game of the FIBA Africa Women’s Champions Cup, losing 79-43 to five times winner Interclube on Sunday.
Making only the first appearance in the championship, the Queens had won their opening game 96-50 against Energie BC, but were no match for the more illustrious Angolan side.
Inter Clube controlled the vast majority of the game with a dominant first quarter when they opened a 13 points lead (25-12).
They extended the lead in the second quarter (16-12) and also dominated the concluding quarters (19-9, 19-10).
Ifunaya Okoro scored a team high 10 points (5/16 FG), 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal, but Marvellous Chizi Abel was the Nigerian side’s most efficient player on the floor.
She contributed 6 pts (3/6 FG), and 6 reb but Coach Aderemi Adewunmi would have wanted more from his team.
They currently seat third – with three points – in group A behind Inter Clube and Egyptian side Sporting, who are on 4 and 3 points respectively.
Energie BC are bottom with no win from two games.
Next for the Aderemi’s side is a game with all to play for against Sporting on Tuesday at the Cairo Stadium Indoor Hall.
