Leon Balogun set to taste first premier League action in 12 months

Brighton and Hove Albion defender Leon Balogun is set to taste his first Premier League action in 12 months in tonight’s English top-flight encounter against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Nigeria international has been out of favour under the Seagulls manager, Graham Potter and could get a look-in as Brighton will be without Solly March for up to a month after sustaining a groin injury.

Solly who has been a threat to Balogun in the Seagulls’ defence, underwent surgery on Monday and will therefore miss the Christmas period, giving the Super Eagles defender a glimmer of hope in getting game time.

Graham Potter said during his press conference ahead of the game:

“Everyone apart from Solly March and Jose Izquierdo is available.

“With a busy period coming up, it is my job to pick the right combination for the team to win matches.”

Interestingly, the last time the Nigeria defender took part in a Premier League game for the Seagulls was against Arsenal in December 26, 2018.
