Enyimba FC striker Victor Mboma is delighted to score the two goals his team needed to defeat newly promoted Adamawa United at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba on Sunday.
The Peoples Elephants returned back to winning ways following the one-nil away loss to Sunshine Stars in match-day four.
Mboma put the home team ahead in the 20th minute when he bundled home a rebound after his strike partner Samson Obi was denied by Adamawa goalkeeper Bulus Pwadadi.
He then finished off a Stanley Dimgba free kick six minutes later to double the lead for Usman Abdallah’s men
The second period of the encounter lacked the zeal and the energy of the first and didn’t produce any goal as Enyimba grabbed their third win of the season.
An elated Mboma however expressed his delight at netting both goals for the People’s Elephants.
“I feel very happy, I feel very very glad to score twice. Although I would have been happier if I made it a hattrick but I will embrace this too.”
“It has been very good for me so far here in Aba,”
“I hope I will still do more and I pray God will give me that grace to score more. I do have targets for the season but it is right inside my heart, I don’t want to reveal it yet,”
Up next for Mbaoma and his Enyimba teammates is a trip to North Africa where they will face Moroccan side Hassania Agadir in their first group game in the CAF Confederation Cup next Sunday.
