John Obuh begs Akwa United fans for more patience

Akwa United boss John Obuh has appeal to the fans of the Club to give the players time to turn their underwhelming season around.

The promise Keepers are winless after four games into the new season of the Nigerian professional football league.

The team played out another disappointing goalless against visiting Katsina United United on Wednesday, with Talisman Nfom Udoh missing a penalty which proved costly.

The team’s head coach John Obuh is one of the oldest coaches in the league and he is not oblivious of the pressure that comes with having such a miserly return after the season’s first four games.

Majority of the Akwa United fans that managed to stay till full time after another disappointing day booed the Promise Keepers as they went off the pitch while cheering their visitors Katsina United.

Obuh cannot appeal enough for his team’s poor start.

“I don’t think what I experienced today from the fans was out of place considering the fact that out of a total of twelve points, we are just having three. Definitely, nobody will be comfortable with that,” stated the former Rangers and Kwara United coach.

“I just want to appeal to them, we have done everything and they can see that from the game we played against Abia Warriors and Enyimba, compared to this game today, they can see there is a lot of improvement in the team.

“All we just need is for us to win one game and I pray that it will come by this weekend so that it can give us a lot of leverage.

“I just want to appeal to our fans, I know how they feel, if I am in their position I will feel same way.

“We know it is not palatable at all but I just wish to appeal to them, we just need their cooperation.

“It would have been better if we started with some good wins like others have done but if it doesn’t happen like that for us, let us not press the panic button, let us be calm and see what we have,” said Obuh.

Akwa United will host another winless team, Nasarawa United in their Match Day 5 game at the Nest of Champions on Sunday.
