Dayo Ojo returned to the Ondo Sports Complex on Wednesday, but with Enyimba in his first ever game against Sunshine Stars in the NPFL, and it was memorable.
Ojo left Sunshine for Enyimba this season, after 10 seasons – in two spells – with the former and the fans showed appreciation to their former captain and star midfield general.
However, it wasn’t the homecoming he’d hope for as Enyimba were trailing 11 minutes into the game after a fine strike by Anthony Omaka.
The Nigeria international was later substituted, walking off the pitch, but to a standing ovation.
He told www.brila.net, ‘The ovation was great and the fans, the supporters were happy to see me and showed me love. That tells you the kind of relationship I had with them when I was in Akure.’
Enyimba lost by the odd goal, and for only the first time this season in the league.
