Rohr admits Lesotho gave the Eagles a good fight

Super Eagles gaffer, Gernot Rohr has conceded that Lesotho gave the Eagles lots of trouble in Sunday’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group L matchday-two fixture at the Setsoto Stadium, Maseru.

The hosts raced into an early lead through Nkoto Masoabi’s 11th minute strike before the Super Eagles rallied back through goals from Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukuweze and Victor Osimhen who netted a brace.

Rohr however praised the Crocodiles for their resolute performance against the Eagles.

“I want to thank Lesotho people for their hospitality. We know it will be difficult to play here [Maseru], Lesotho gave us a lot of troubles,” Rohr told a news conference.

“We are happy with the win. It put us in a good position to qualify for the competition.”

The win puts Nigeria on top of Group L with six points and three points above Benin who sit second after defeating Sierra Leone 1-0 on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Sierra Leone and Lesotho occupy third and fourth positions respectively with a point each.
