Nigerian gymnastic federation yesterday conducted an election in Abuja and first Nigerian gymnastics coach to get a certification from the World Gymnastics body, Tony Asoquo was elected into the board of the Nigerian gymnastic federation as the new technical director.
Asuquo was in flamboyant mood when he spoke to reporters saying, he is very happy to be elected into the board after many trials in the past and will work to make the federation the envy of everyone by ensuring that coaches and players get what they want. He added that, in his new role he will introduce gymnastic club competition in the country to make the game more popular in the country.
Meanwhile, Nigeria gymnast Helen Ocheke was also elected into the board of the Nigerian Gymnastic federation board as athletes representative. Helen who is Nigeria’s number one and Africa’s number fifteen gymnast has represented the country in Algiers 2003 and Congo 2015 All African games respectively.
She pledged to represent the interest of the athletes and work with the board closely to ensure competitions are organize for them as the country looks forward to qualifier for the next Olympics.
