Super Eagles squad depth will help 2021 AfCON campaign – Victor Agali

Former Nigeria International and chief scout of the Super Eagles, Victor Agali has said the Republic of Benin in Wednesday’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game was very different from the friendly games against Ukraine and Brazil and believes the 2-1 win over the Benin Republic was a positive way to start the Afcon qualifier.

“Against Ukraine and Brazil was different they were a lot of attacking players, the European game is different from the African games…”

However, Agali shared his reservation with the Eagles performance in the first 10 mins of the game but stresses that he was not disappointed in the overall performance who he believes played better in the second half which helped us secure the win.

“ You have to give credit to the technical crew because with a good technical side any team include the so-called minnows can hold you to ransom, traveling for over 7 hours to Nigeria also showed in the Nigeria players in the first few minutes, but we shouldn’t feel too big and look down on Benin for me it was a fair game”

Agali also pointed out the quality options available to Coach Gernot Rohr which he feels is a positive for the Super Eagles during the 2021 AFCON qualifying race.

Nigeria is currently top of Group L with three points from one game.
