Nigeria Table Tennis female champion, Tosin Oribamise believes Nigeria’s performance as a top table tennis nation would improve if we participate in more tournaments and as she aims to break into the top 100 in the world.
In a chat with brila.net she said “The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation need to take players out more though they have been trying but the best way to help us is to sponsor us to more competitions, as a player before you can get top ranking you must attend competitions, even if you don’t win appearance gives a lot of points also the government need to encourage and celebrate players.”
Tosin who won the silver medal from the inaugural 2019 ITTF West Africa opens in Cote d’Ivoire and is currently ranked 85 in the u-21 category in the world has her eyes on the top spots before the end of the tennis calendar year.
“My target before I leave the U-21 is to get to the top 10 I know it’s possible with hard work.
The senior category is more challenging, in the world I just want to get to the top 100 currently I’m placed in 245 and get to the top 5 in the Africa ranking. “
