Ekong hails special Eagles win over Benin Republic

Super Eagles stand in Captain Williams Troost-Ekong has hailed his side’s hard-fought win over Benin Republic in the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

 

The Gernot Rohr’s tutored team fought back from a goal deficit to beat their visitors 2-1 to begin their African Cup of Nations qualifiers with a three points.

 

While reacting to the win, Ekong described the victory as special, before adding that team are happy to be back to winning ways in Uyo.

 

“Good to start our AFCON 2021 campaign with a win. Always special to play on home soil in Uyo! +3🇳🇬🦅#HomeBoy #Afcon2021q Nigeria Super Eagles” he posted on Social Media.

 

Victor Osimhen and Samuel Kalu scored for to lead Nigeria all the three points, after Stephane Sessegnon had given the Squirrels the lead.

 

Nigeria leads Group L with three points after the win , while Sierra Leone and Lesotho are second and third respectively with a point each.
