Super Eagles defender Williams Troost-Ekong has admitted that the team is fully ready for today’s (Wednesday) 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against the Squirrels of Benin.
Nigeria are up against their West African neighbours Benin at the Goodwill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo today as they aim to start their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign on a good note. The kick-off is 5pm.
While the Squirrels are winless against Nigeria in 12 meetings, with the Super Eagles winning ten and winning the last five.
Super Eagles assistant captain and Udinese defender Troost-Ekong has however hinted that the team is ready for Benin test and hope to maintain their perfect record against the Michel Dussuyer’s men.
“All of us are here because we are very passionate to play football, all of us want to do well for our country,” said Troost-Ekong.
“I have not experience what it is like to win the AFCON title. I think Kenneth [Omeruo] and [Ahmed] Musa have experienced that so I think that for me it’s still a fire that’s burning.
“So, it always makes you want to do more we want to make sure we qualify from the group we want to go further we want to do something that hasn’t been done before.”
Nigeria are next in action against the Crocodiles of Lesotho at Maseru on Sunday.
