Udinese Holds Firm to “Charismatic” Ekong, Hands Super Eagles CB Lucrative, Long term Deal

William Troost-Ekong has signed a contract extension with Udinese that’ll keep him with the Italian A club until 2023.

Udinese announced the deal on Wednesday and the Player himself shared his delight on social media.

The 26 year-old tweeted:

Very happy with my renewal. Thanks to Udinese for the confidence, the hard work continues!

In the statement published on its website, Udinese Technical Director Pierpaolo Marino said the decision to extend the Nigerian’s contract was among other things because of his strong character in the locker room.

“He is a player of great value and charismatic for the locker room. It is an important message that shows how the players are doing well here in Udine.

“It is important to have a similar relationship with players who feel that they are connected to the cause. Thanks to the Pozzo family, which allows us to carry on great empathy with our players in everyday life.”

Troost-Ekong joined Udinese in 2018 from Turkish side Bursaspor for €2 million.

He has since made 45 appearances for the Club in all competitions.

Details of his new deal weren’t made official, but according to www.brila.net sources it includes a significant pay rise from his current €741,000 per-year salary, with ad-ons.
