Upe Atosu Returns for D’Tigress, as Hughley Names 12 Olympic Games Pre-qualifiers

Upe Atosu has been named in the 12 Player Roster of the Nigeria Senior Women’s Basketball Team for the first time since 2017, as she has been called up for the African pre-qualifying tournament in Mozambique later this month.

Atosu will join 2019 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket MVP Ezinne Kalu and Evelyn Akhator, who are among the 12 invited by the D’Tigress Coach.

 

Also, veteran Aisha Balarabe will continue to play a role in Otis’s team as the 34 year-old Forward continues her 16-year run with the team.

 

Nigeria has been drawn in Group A with host nation – Mozambique and DR Congo. While Senegal will compete against Angola and Mali in Group B.

The tournament tips off on November 10 in Maputo.

 

According to the new FIBA competition rules, the two group winners will join 14 other teams from Europe, Asia and the Americas to fight for 10 Olympic slots on offer at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
