Super Eagles Open Corsica Camp, Injuries and Club Engagements may Spoil the Party

The Super Eagles are expected to converge in France Today ahead of exhibition games against Corsica and Togo.

Eagles Coach Salisu Yusuf will lead a handful of backroom staff alongside three NPFL based players invited for the friendlies, to France on Monday.

However, there are doubts about the availability of some players after games this weekend across Europe.

Centre back, Leon Balogun hobbled off in the Bundesliga match against FC Koln after just 18 minutes and could be doubtful for the camp.

The 27-year-old tweeted on Sunday, revealing nothing about the injury, he simply sent a farewell message to striker, Bojan Krkic.

Similarly in German, Victor Osimhen may be tied up with hoping to help Wolfsburg beat the drop. The 18-year-old made only his second appearance for the club after a lengthy injury spell.

In Belgium, Moses Simon returned to action but for just 28 minutes, as a substitute in KAA Gent’s 2-1 defeat to Club Brugge KV.

The 21-year-old had been out injured for about a month missing three matches in the process.

His bit part role in Gent’s defeat seems to mean the winger is not fully fit for a competitive match.

Another player who may be an injury concern is Watford’s Isaac Success, who did not feature in the last four league matches involving the club.

Success has struggled for form since his move from Spain in the January transfer window; and was not even dressed in the thumping at the hands of Man City and defeat to Chelsea.

Meanwhile, media Officer of the Super Eagles, Toyin Ibitoye disclosed that the Nigeria contingent will Fly out to France on Monday and travel to the Mediterranean island.

The Super Eagles play Corsica on May 26 at the Stade Francois Coty in Ajaccio and six days later come up against Togo on June 1 in Paris.

The friendlies are in a bid to get the team fired up ahead of the Afcon qualifier against South Africa on May 10.
