Nigeria rowing gold medalist, Esther Tokoh Tamarameabi has expressed her excitement following her qualification for the 2020 Olympics and gold medal at the Africa Rowing tournament but also revealed that it was no easy feat but has dedicated her win to God, hard work and focus.
The former Canoeing champion who switched to rowing in 2017 told brila.net that the Nigeria Canoeing Rowing, Sailing Federation as well as the Ministry of youth and sports needs to do more to prepare the team for a tournament like the Olympics.
She said, “It was not easy to pick the ticket, we do not have the standard types of equipment also we need to go for training tours like other countries this way our performance will improve and win more medals.”
Esther Tokoh who is the second-ever Nigerian female rower to qualify for the Olympics after Nigerian-American Chierika Ukogu participated in the 2016 Rio Olympic said her target for the 2020 games is to win a medal but that depends on the level of training and exposure she gets before the Olympic next year.
