Former Super Eagles assistant Coach Fatai Amoo has played down the impact of Chelsea duo Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham snubbing Nigeria for England.
Abraham and Tomori are on the verge of making their International debut for England in Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and the Czech Republic later this month.
The youngsters decided to represent the Three Lions of England ahead of the Nigerian Super Eagles and Amoo believed that the country is blessed with enough talents to make the Super Eagles a world beaters without the duo.
“We are now putting the horse before the cart and that is why we are always looking for players born abroad with Nigeria root. We put ourselves into this situation because I believe we have qualities that are better than Abraham and Fikayo in the country,” he said.
Amoo stressed further that the performance of Victor Osimhen and Emmanuel Dennis who was named in the UCL team of the week and nominated for player of the week award is a testament that the country is blessed with amazing young talents that will blossom later in future.
“Seeing how Osimhen and Dennis are playing in the UEFA Champions League has shown that Nigeria is blessed with talents and they have not seen anything yet from Osimhen and Dennis.
“So we should not lose sleep over the decision of Abraham and Fikayo to play for England. We all know those that made this kind of decision in the past and they were latter dump by England. So, Nigeria should forget about them and focus on the players we have. No need forcing anyone to play for Nigeria,” Amoo concluded.
