Bayelsa Queens head coach, Moses Aduku says it will be “distasteful” if the league champions fail to reach the Super 4 this season.
Aduku guided Bayelsa Queens to the NWPL title last term and is on the cusp of reaching the season’s play-off.
However, the team faces current Aiteo Cup winners, Nasarawa Queens, Wednesday in Yenogoa in a crunch tie.
Speaking ahead of the game, the Coach describe Wednesday’s game as a must win for his side.
“I, players, management and our teeming fans know the important of the match against Nasarawa Amazons, we are not expecting anything less than outright win,” the Coach was quoted by NWFL Media.
“Of course, it will be distasteful and unheard of for the last season’s league winners not to qualify for the Super 4.
“Our minds are focused on winning the match as any other result could be dicey considering that our closest challengers, Sunshine Queens are at home against Kaduna Queens.
“Goal difference could be decisive so we do not want to give room to chance we want to win squarely.
“Nasarawa Amazons will not get any mercy from us, they were expected to win the clash against Sunshine Queens in Lafia but it ended in a barren draw.
“That’s football for you, a win would have put them on strong footing going into the last day match, that’s their own cross to carry not ours.
“However, we still expect a tough game from them despite the fact that we beat them right there at their backyard in Lafia.
“We want to win the clash firstly to qualify for Super 4 before we begin to consider retaining the league title.
“I’m somehow lucky to have one of the best legs in the land to execute successfully the all-important match against Nasarawa Amazons on Wednesday,” said Aduku.
The Yenagoa side sit atop of NWPL Group C log with 10 points, five more than third placed Nasarawa Amazons.
