Super Eagles Head Coach Gernot Rohr admits his side played their best football in the first 45 minutes against Ukraine on Tuesday night at the Dnipro Arena.
Nigeria raced to a 2-0 lead through Joe Aribo and Victor Osimhen inside 34 minutes, capping a brilliant first-half display over the host.
However the tide changed and the momentum swung in Ukraine’s favor in the concluding half, Rohr believes the Yellow-Blue also rode on home advantage.
Goals in the 78th and 79th minutes saw Andriy Shevchenko’s men level and the Eagles were very much second best in the closing minutes.
Speaking in the post-game presser, Rohr said both team gave it their all in an entertaining game.
“Great control match,” remarked the Super Eagles Coach.
‘Both sides demonstrated quality football. We won the first half, but Ukraine played at home, so the result is natural. After the break, the opponent did much better.”
