Nigeria dominated the last four of the men’s table tennis at the ongoing 12th African Games in Rabat, Morocco.
Segun Toriola, Olajide Omotayo and African number Aruna Quadri are all through to Thursday’s semi-final, with Egypt’s Omar Asard between the trio.
Olajide Omotayo defeated Egypt’s Ahmed Saleh 4-3 in the quarterfinal of men’s singles to book semifinal with seven time Olympian Segun Toriola who was at his best when he also thrashed another Egyptian Khalid Assar 4-3.
Aruna Quadri was not left out of the party, the 2019 Bulgarian Open semi finalist outclassed Congo Brazzaville’s Saheed Idowu 4-0 set up a clash with Omar Assar, the man who knocked him out of the 2019 ITTF Africa Cup in Lagos.
In the women’s event, Olufunke Oshonaike lost 3-4 to Egypt’s Farah Abdel-Aziz, while Dina Meshref stroll past Algeria’s Lynda Logrhaibi 4-0.
Nigeria women’s number one Edem Offiong beat Egypt’s Reem El-Eraky, while Cameroun’s Sarah Hanffou clinched in the last four ticket after beating Egypt’s Yousra Helmy.
Offiong will battle Hanffou while Meshref will face her compatriot – Abdel-Aziz in the second semifinal on Thursday August 29.
