General manager of the Nigeria D’tigers Musa Adamu has stated that the Nigeria senior national team is motivated enough to still compete at the fast approaching FIBA world cup in China despite the financial crisis that threatened the team’s participation at the world cup.
Adamu said in a chat with brila.net hours before departure that the D’Tigers will not allow the financial set back affects them as they shift focus back to the game after a late intervention by the Nigeria Basketball Federation through a loan sourced to cater for the team’s travel by the President of the NBBF in communication with FIBA Dr. Musa Kida.
“The team is leaving for China, you know the Federation is funding this trip, you can see the team, the way they are motivated, it takes a lot for these things to happen, we are nor distracted, we are not worried about that you know it’s not going to change anything and I also want to appreciate the Federation.”
The team departed Nigeria for China on Tuesday night where they are expected to play an invitational tourney before the start of the world cup.
