Former Super Eagles Captain Nwankwo Kanu has been appointed as the Senior Special Assistant on Sports matters to Imo state Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
Kanu who began his football career in Imo state with Iwuanyanwu Nationale got his appointment on Wednesday evening, August 14, at the Government House in Owerri.
This will be Kanu’s first political appointment since he retired from football.
Kanu won a UEFA Champions League medal, a UEFA Cup medal, three FA Cup Winners Medals and two African Player of the Year awards amongst others.
He is one of few players to have won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup, and an Olympic Gold Medal.
