Screen shot chats, supposedly with the home based D’Tigers players revealed the extent of ill-treatment the team feels.
“We are going to Sokoto to go and lodge in an hotel on your own personal bills [sic]”
“Asin players were asked to pay for the hotel funds by ourselves that there is no money [sic]”
“While the female team is in eko hotel lounging, male team in Dominican Republic lounging [sic]”
“We are practically outside”
“No where to sleep”
Nigeria’s AfroCan debut was ended in the quarter-final qualification round and the team failed to pick up a win in all three games played.
The competition itself is for national teams and executed by players based on the continent.
Some basketball fans expressed disappointment at the NBBF for the treatment of the national team players and called for investigation by the government.
