FIBA Africa U16 championship – Junior Tigers coach Onyanabo proud of team’s Bronze medal finish

Coach of Nigeria’s U16 basketball National team Fubara Onyanabo has stated that he is very proud of the outing of the Junior Tigers at the just concluded FIBA Africa U16 championship in Praia Cape Verde where the team finished third with a 54 – 53 win in the third-place game against Guinea.

Onyanabo speaking on the team’s outing in the competition praised the players for giving their all to ensure the team didn’t return empty-handed following the disappointment of losing the semi-final against Mali.
He said Nigeria prosecuted the championship with just 7 players as against others that had 12 players and still gave a good account of themselves.
“It was just more of motivation to the kids because after they lost the semifinal game, they were all very down but we told them it’s better to go back home with something because Nigeria will not listen to any excuse from them.
“The boys they’ve given their all, they put in all they’ve got, I am very proud of these kids.”
