Super Eagles midfielder and former Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel big man, John Ogu Ugochukwu has stated that in as much as he is eager to play for the country, he has to wait for his time to come, describing the situation as really challenging.
Ogu is yet to taste action at a competitive tournament, as he also did not feature for Nigeria at the last FIFA world cup in Russia despite making the final list of players for the Mundial.
Speaking ahead of Nigeria’s final group game against Madagascar, after progressing to the round of 16, Ogu stated that he remains blessed to be part of the squad, while he just has to keep working hard until he is called upon by the manager, and will always give his best.
“I want to play no doubt, but I must tell you it’s really tough, really challenging”.
“But to be here alone, it’s a blessing I must confess, but I can’t really say much”.
“I just need to keep working hard, I know the managers respect me, many of the fans out there want to see me play, they know about my quality”.
“The truth is Nigeria is blessed with many talents, whoever gets the chance to play will surely give their best, but I just have to keep working, that’s all I know about. I’ve known about hard work all my life so I’m going to keep working, and whenever I get the chance to play, I will give it everything”.
It is expected that he will get his chance in the last group match against Madagascar after Nigeria became the first team to qualify for the round of 16 with two 1-0 wins against Burundi and Guinea.
