Super Eagles defender and yesterday’s goal scorer for Nigeria, Kenneth Omeruo, has revealed that he is not surprised about his recent performances for the country after he scored the country’s only goal against Guinea in the Super Eagles’ 1-0 win in their second match of the group stage.
Nigeria became the first country to make it to the knockout rounds of the ongoing 32nd Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt on Wednesday evening, as Kenneth Omeruo’s well –placed header from a Moses Simon’s corner kick earned all three points against Guinea at the Alexandria Stadium.
Speaking to www.brila.net after the match, Omeruo also added that he is excited with the team performance while adding that experience in this competition has helped his game, even as he is now more focused and able to anticipate better due to his improved positioning during matches.
“As a team, we did well, also happy with my performance. At the end of the day, we got the win”.
“Playing at this stage, you just know its the height of every footballer and I’ve gained a lot of experience playing against top players in this competition, also experienced players in our team as well”.
“I believe am more focused and I know where I have to be in terms of positioning”.
The result also means that for the first time since the AFCON finals (also staged in Egypt), Nigeria won their first two matches of the finals.
