Nigeria is a great nation with many talented people. Unfortunately, the extreme poverty in some parts of the country has posed as an obstacle and hindrance in the grooming and growth of talents and skills in our children.
Many children who live in underdeveloped communities possess talents that can indeed move our nation forward. These are children that if invested in, will set Nigeria on international maps in sports, entertainment, arts, business and much more.
These talented children are however not being empowered. They spend time searching for ways to fund themselves instead of dedicating time to enhance their skills.Their dedication to defy the odds and beat poverty is strong.
The ability to discover talent in these poor children is not difficult, the difficulty is in finding men and women willing to invest and empower these children. To see and believe in the future that our children see and take them out of their environments or better still, make their environments more conducive to life.
Sports is an opening to effectively achieve this and help them escape extreme poverty that has gripped the populace.
We must all take a stand and empower these children
As Elderson Echiejile states, “We must fight for our children to ensure that they have better, that they do better…We must fight for their smiles”.
