Anthony Joshua has revealed that he might consider staging his next fight in Africa as a mark of honour for boxing legends Muhammad Ali and George Foreman.
Joshua who has Nigerian parents can win a 23rd consecutive fight, and if he overcomes Andy Ruiz Jr. at the Madison Square Garden on June 1st.
However after Deontey Wilder agreed a rematch with Luis Ortiz, Joshua is now pondering on his next move after his next bout with Ruiz and feels Africa might be his next destination.
The 29-year-old believes fighting in Africa will revoke the memory of the big heavyweight fight between two of the sport’s greatest of all time in Ali and Foreman who fought in Zaire back in the 70s.
“Madison Square Garden? What’s next? Who knows,” said Joshua. “Maybe an international stadium. Maybe go to Africa in honour of Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. The opportunities are crazy. He said.
