Super Falcons and Southeastern University women’s soccer forward Uchenna Kanu who led Nigeria to a memorable 2019 WAFU women’s cup of nations title, is confident of the super falcon’s chances at the FIFA women’s world cup.
21-year-old Kanu who scored 10 goals to win the golden boot at the Wafu tournament is super excited by her inclusion in the Super Falcons provisional world cup squad said “I’m excited, I feel its a great opportunity for me to go out there and play to the best of my ability and to be able to get more exposure for myself and my family and everybody looking up to me.”
Kanu who believes the wafu tournament has prepared her for the world cup says her goal is to keep the pace and fire burning just like it was at the wafu womens cup of nations and believe in the Falcons progression.
“I believe in my team and I am confident we have a good team and also believe we are going out there not just to be there, but to be able to get the result and come out with something.”
About the wafu tournament and opponents “we have a really good chance, we are confident enough to go out there and face the challenges no matter who we are playing, I believe we have a good team to make it through that stage “
The 2019 Wafu women’s cup golden boot winner, netted the equalizer for the Super Falcons against Ivory Coast with one second remaining in the 95th minute to level the match 1-1, where Nigeria eventually won the title in penalty kicks 5-4.
