Nigerian women sprints record holder, Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor’s ran a season-best record of 11.07 seconds at the IAAF Diamond League meet in Shanghai to finish second. In 2013, she stormed to an African Record of 10.79sec in the 100m while competing at the London Anniversary Games where she defeated the reigning Olympic Champion at the time, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica.

 

Meanwhile, American Aleia Hobbs won the women’s 100m in her debut Diamond League race in 11.03, despite having a broken wrist.

 

The 2018 US champion, made her IAAF Diamond League debut a notable one, taking a convincing 100m victory in 11.03, 0.04 clear of Nigerian Blessing Okagbare.

 

And she did it with a heavily taped wrist she broke two weeks ago while playing laser tag with some children.

 

Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson was third, clocking 11.14.
