Head coach of Tanzanian National team Emmanuel Amuneke has extended an invitation to 15-year-old Kelvin John Pius in his initial 39-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.
John was impressive at just concluded Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations that Tanzania hosted last month, although they failed to pick qualification ticket to FIFA U-17 World Cup billed for Brazil.
The Tunisia 1994 AFCON winner also included another youngster Claryo Boniface from the under-20 side is also on the list.
“I believe it is time we start to build a team and think of the future,” Amunike said.
“We need to start to think of the youth and see how we can start to integrate into the system.”
“The squad is not just for the Afcon but also the CHAN after that,” he explained.
“So as the technical team we are planning how we can switch straight to CHAN after the Afcon.”
John who is fondling called Mbape by his teammates scored once in Tanzania’s 4-5 defeat to Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets at the just concluded CAF U-17 African Cup of Nations.
