Coach of NPFL side MFM FC Fidelis Ilechukwu has lamented his side’s Lagos FA cup exit which translates to failure to qualify for the 2019 Federation’s cup after losing out to non-league side Box to Box FC of Lagos in the Lagos FA cup.
A disappointed Ilechukwu said in a chat with www.brila.net said the defeat was occasioned as a result of limited squad which he has to rotate and the need to manage his squad to be fresh for the crucial stage of the league with the team fast losing pace with the realities of a big fight for survival and top three contention in the league.
“It’s very painful to have been knocked out of the Federation cup after the defeat to the non-league side who eventually also got knocked out the next round after they won against MFM FC.
The FA cup is always like that, the non-league side gave their all because of the motivation to beat MFM FC but we have other engagement which requires that we manage our squad unlike them.”
MFM FC will now shift attention solely now on the NPFL as they will now attempt to put a stop to the club’s run of poor form which has seen them remain winless in the last five league games and also now with elimination from the FA cup to knock them out of running for the Federation Cup.
